In today's world, it's not just your computer (both laptop and desktop) that you need to worry about your data but also your mobile device, such as your tablet and phone. Your mobile also adds another level of concern, since it's mobile, it can be easily misplaced or even stolen. That's way both Google and Apple now have services (that are free) that can disable a phone or tablet. Basically make a brick and who has it can't access it at all. In the Apple world, it's part of the iCloud service (Find My iPhone).
Of course, you can't escape talking about data without mentioning backups. Data is what we run on; especially if you're a business. Without your data, your business is pretty much a sitting duck in the middle of a six lane highway just waiting to get run over. People always ask us if they should backup. And our answer is with a question; Just How Important Is Your Data? We've seen grown men cry, and we 've seen mothers not flinch when their baby pictures were lost. Unfortunately, most businesses don't realize what COULD happen. Like most other things, they don't think it'll happen to them, or it "won't be that bad, we'll just re-create it". A general rule of backup is the 3-2-1 rule. Three types of backups; two types of media and one offsite.
If you run a small business, just take a moment to and think about what if you didn't have access to your data; whether it's all your AutoCAD files, QuickBooks data, pictures of real estate. Stop down to the Geeks at Work / Computer Tamers and talk to one of us about data backup and your options! We're located in the Southgate Plaza next door to Walmart off of Blowing Rock Road. Or call us at 828-262-3359.
