Happy Thanksgiving - er, Black Friday! Unfortunately, as we all know, thanks (no pun intended) to the retail industry, Thanksgiving has been turned into a commercialized event. Black Friday, which used to be only on the day after Thanksgiving, has now started on the actual day of Thanksgiving. With that being said, it certainly is hard to ignore the special pricing they offer to get you into the doors of the store. On Today's show, Mish and Jaison talk about some of these deals and what to watch out for. Listen to us every Friday at 9:30am on either 1450AM or 96.5FM WATA!

Some of the deals you'll see are either previous models of said product. However, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Just like buying an older model of a car; nothing wrong with it. However, one thing you do need to watch out for from companies such as Wal-Mart. They have cheaper versions of the same computer (just like the John Deere's at Home Depot are NOT the same if you were to get directly from John Deere). They also have shorter warranties, sometimes as short as 15 days! Just some of the questions you need to ask. Consoles such as the PlayStation4 or Xbox prices are locked down. What you WILL see are bundles. Same goes for Apply devices; Apple sets those prices and the retailer can't go lower than that. TV's also are cheap now. One thing you need to watch out for on a "cheap" TV is the processor behind it. How long does it take to process your request, such as opening up the built in Netflix app? How cheaply written is the Netflix app? What's the fastest the internal wireless (or wired) NIC card can handle for internet speeds? It's not uncommon to run a speed test on a TV and it only gets about 500kbps. That's barely fast enough to run Netflix on Standard Def! A good UHD TV needs at least 40megs to stream 4K content. These are just some of the areas you need to watch out for and how the manufacturer gets to cheapen their prices.
